Certified Executive Coach/Entrepreneur/Change Engineer
“Rather than viewing change as a disruptive, unwanted occurrence, you can choose to view the variances in your world as valuable influences in the cycle... When you see change as the only constant there really is, you start to recognize it as an expression of ongoing life that’s a welcome clue to your own purpose and meaning.”
I bring a substantial background in working with people to my coaching practice. My interest in helping others began when I was in high school. I supported others with significant learning challenges. After completing a degree in Psychology at Brandeis University, I then moved on to complete a Diploma in Special Education at UBC and became a Special Education Teacher in British Columbia, helping individuals with developmental disabilities, and guiding them towards maximizing their life potential.
My passion for helping others led me to a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and then a Ph.D. in Education, both at SFU. Much of my work upon completion of the Ph.D. has been on supporting individuals and organizations undergoing significant and often unexpected or unwanted change. A crucial aspect of this work involved uncovering my clients’ truths about themselves and identifying concrete goals and next steps to take in generally complicated circumstances, an approach that significantly informs my coaching practice today.
Ultimately, I worked as a Psychologist in BC for almost 25+ years, balancing a part-time private counselling and consulting practice with teaching and counselling. Later, I became an Associate Director in Health and Counselling Services at SFU.
In the Associate Director’s role, I honed my managerial skills supervising a large team of students, counsellors and psychologists. Importantly, in the past two years, I've gone through a significant career reset. I have taken off my hat as a Psychologist and moved to Executive Coaching, having completed the Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching at Royal Roads University. Following on my passion for organizational and leadership development which emerged in my managerial role at SFU, I am now a Certified Executive Coach supporting executives, leaders and “leaders to be” using an action-oriented, goal-focused coaching approach.
I am also now a member of the International Coaching Federation and see coachees from around the world.
My intention is to partner with you, the coachee, supporting your courage to transcend and transform challenging work and life situations.
I look forward to being of service to you.
